Paranormal Experiences

I believe it is naïve and egocentric to think that we are the only inhabitants of our vast universe. How could we be so important? I have had a few paranormal experiences in my life which seemed to confirm this.

Once, in my twenties, I was driving south in Washington state with my first husband. It was already dark and we were heading through an area of dense forested hills on a windy stretch of the I-5. There were very few cars on the road.

As we rounded a curve, a huge elliptical shaped lighted disk hovered off in the distance just over the crest of a hill for a few seconds and then rose up and flew off. I said, “Did you see that?” and he replied in awe, “Yah, what the fuck?” Neither of us was superstitious, nor particularly interested in UFOs so we were just dumbfounded.

Then four years ago, just before the pandemic, my current husband and I were staying in a hotel in Puerto Vallarta. One night he woke me up at 3 a.m. and asked me to come take a look outside and tell him if he was crazy or if he was looking at a UFO. I obliged and went to the balcony.

Up in the sky there was a brightly lit small circular object, slightly bigger than any planet. It was moving in a circular motion quite fast and then three other smaller lights emerged from its centre and hovered around it making fast spinning movements. Then the three lights went back inside the central orb and disappeared. This repeated itself several times over the ten minutes I stood there. I calmly said, “Yes, that’s a UFO. I’m going back to sleep.”

A lifelong friend of mine started reporting paranormal experiences she had since childhood, which continued well into her twenties. They usually involved seeing ghosts or receiving messages from spirits of people who had passed on. Often, they were strangers who wished to communicate something through her to a person she knew. They were very detailed messages about specific things only the recipient could know. I trusted her and believed her.

I am not religious and I consider myself to be a grounded, reasonable person who believes in scientific proof. However, I try to keep my mind open to the possibilities of alternate realities that we don’t yet understand empirically.
